On Sunday 28th February the Soundcheck delegates were joined by local Londoners for a night of heartfelt work by Musicspeaks artists and others inspired by the launch of the Arms Trade campaign.

Benny and Serogo of the Free West Papua campaign shared moving music from their homeland and told us a little of their story before Rebecca Gower shared her beguiling poetry www.myspace.com/thedaythebutterflyforgot and an emotive rendition of Bob Dylan’s Masters of War.

A packed room was then exposed to a new light as Pip Campbell’s shared three of her beautiful and thoughtful songs www.myspace.com/pipcampbell, before welcoming back regular Musicspeaks’ artist Hannah Kitchen, who treated us to a selection of songs appearing on her ‘Small EP’. www.myspace.com/hannahkitchen

After a break to get on with making peace doves to offer DSO the following day, Karen Grace’s captivating sounds, accompanied by Zanna Evans on harp hit just the right note to restore tired bones before headliner Mohammed Yahya took us on a lyrical journey, offering hope and joy to get us all out of our seats and moving to tracks from his album 'Beyond Conflict' www.myspace.com/mohammedyahya

Thanks to Passing Clouds for hosting us in their beautiful venue and to all the artists for sharing their work. You can find our more about Musicspeaks and download tracks at www.musicspeaks.info
